The Adjustment of Belt for Milling And Turning Composite Machine Tool

In the transmission system of the milling and turning machine tool, the belt is like a marathon runner who silently contributes, carrying the heavy responsibility of power transmission. Proper use and adjustment of belts not only affect transmission efficiency, but also directly impact machining accuracy and equipment lifespan.

Cleaning the pulley groove before installation is a crucial first step, as any small oil stains or debris may affect the transmission accuracy. Just like changing the strap of a precious watch, clean gloves must be worn during operation to avoid sweat stains and oil contamination on the strap.

Tension adjustment is the core technology to ensure transmission efficiency. When using a professional tension meter for measurement, the downward displacement of the midpoint of the belt should be controlled between 1% and 1.5% of the belt span length. Too loose can cause slippage and power loss, while too tight can increase bearing load. After adjustment, it needs to be rechecked after running for 30 minutes because the new belt has an initial elongation phenomenon.

The accuracy directly affects the service life of the belt. When using a laser centering device for inspection, the axial deviation of the two pulleys should be controlled within 0.1mm, and the angular deviation should not exceed 0.1 degrees. During daily inspections, a ruler can be used to assist observation. If uneven wear is found on the edge of the belt, such as uneven wear on a tire, it is often a clear signal of poor alignment.

Daily maintenance requires the establishment of scientific standards. When regularly checking the condition of the belt, special attention should be paid to whether there are cracks on the back and whether the side is shiny and hardened. These subtle changes are like sub healthy signals in the human body, indicating that the belt is about to reach its service life. Special rubber cleaner should be used when cleaning the belt, as ordinary solvents can accelerate rubber aging.

Environmental factors are crucial. It is best to control the working environment temperature between 5-40 ℃. If the temperature is too low, the belt will become hard, and if it is too high, it will accelerate aging. A humid environment can easily cause the pulley to rust. If the machine tool is not used for a long time, it is wise to relax the belt tension appropriately.

The timing of replacement requires a combination of experience and data. In addition to regular replacement based on usage hours, attention should also be paid to actual working conditions. When the length of the belt changes by more than 3% of the initial value, or there is obvious vibration noise during operation, these are clear signals that must be replaced immediately. When replacing, it is recommended to replace the entire belt at the same time. Mixing old and new belts can cause uneven stress.

Modern turning and milling composite machine tools have begun to adopt intelligent monitoring systems, which monitor the status of belts in real time through vibration sensors. But regular manual inspections are still indispensable. From traditional tactile testing to modern intelligent monitoring, belt maintenance technology is constantly evolving, and the craftsmanship spirit of striving for excellence is always the key to ensuring the best performance of equipment.
